The 2025 Show information will be available soon.

GENTEX

Be sure to check out our presenting sponsor, Gentex’s massive, heavily-modified Chevrolet Silverado Trail Boss (2LT). Sitting atop the truck’s custom Mule Sam roof rack is a DJI Matrice 300 RTK drone for scouting the surrounding terrain. The truck is paired with a companion Vorsheer XOC (Extreme Overland Camper) featuring the same overland theme and matching wrap. It comes loaded with every outdoor adventure necessity, including a heater and air conditioning, propane stove, sink, fridge/freezer, rooftop tent, and more.

Gilmore Car Museum

The Gilmore Car Museum has been displayed 10-12 historic autos at the Michigan International Auto Show for the past 20 years. The non-profit museum opened to the public in 1966 with thirty-five cars and has grown to become North America’s Largest Auto Museum with more than 600 cars today. The museum relies solely on the generosity of donors who freely give their vehicles to the museum’s collection.

This year, the Gilmore Car Museum is showcasing a few recent donations – each of which have never been displayed before at the Museum or at the Auto Show.  Check them out at the river’s end of the Grand Gallery.

Society of Automotive Engineers

SAE International is the leader in connecting and educating mobility professionals to enable safe, clean, and accessible mobility solutions. The Michigan International Auto Show is proud to host three student organizations to showcase the vehicles they have built.

WMU’s Bronco Racing is a Formula SAE team. A student organization with almost 50 members that designs, builds, and competes open wheeled formula-style vehicles against other universities across the world. Their vehicle, BR23 is Bronco Racing’s most successful competition vehicle to date with a record placement of 21st out of 120 international entries at the 2023 Formula SAE Michigan Competition. Developed off the architecture of its predecessor, it saw a lighter carbon fiber monocoque chassis, refined cooling system, and implementation of traction control. Another notable feature is a robust electrical system with wireless telemetry and a new LED dashboard. Powered by a high compression 2007 Honda CBR 600RR four-cylinder sport bike engine running on E-85, BR23 clocked a top speed of 92 mph during an SCCA event.

WMU’s Bronco Baja Racing is a student organization at Western Michigan University that designs and races Baja-style off-road cars. A team of student engineers who foster innovation, teamwork, and hands-on skills while inspiring future problem solvers. Their vehicle, BBR23 is the first competition car built since 2018. After being dormant during the pandemic, the team came back strong with this latest entry in the Bronco Baja Racing catalog of vehicles. Built primarily out of components the team had on the shelf, this beast of a vehicle was assembled and manufactured in just under 50 days, making it a testament to Western Michigan University’s engineering students’ determination to achieve a common goal.

Sunseeker Solar Car Project WMU is a student run non-profit business that designs, builds, and races solar powered race cars across the country. They have been racing for over 30 years with alumni across the United States. The team provides a knowledge base and career-ready understanding of engineering practices to those who contribute to the project. Sunseeker 23 is a symbol of cutting-edge technology with efficiency as its key aspect. It follows a 3-wheel ‘bullet’ car design for optimized aerodynamics and minimized mechanical loss. Weighing approximately 350 pounds before driver, the car can travel a constant 45 mph on sun power alone. This summer, Sunseeker 23 will compete in the Formula Sun Grand Prix and American Solar Challenge 2024.
