NOVI, Mich. – Feb 28, 2019 – The 12th annual Cottage & Lakefront Living Show returns Thurs. Feb. 28 and runs through Sun., March 3 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.
“Property and vacation homeowners and those looking to buy, build, rent or improve their cottage and lakefront property should prepare for summer at this preseason show,” said Dawn Baker, show manager for ShowSpan, Inc. “Walk through a full-size cabin, find out about replacing a dock or seawall, add unique cottage and outdoor furniture or see the latest in water toys.”
Luke Caldwell and Clint Robertson, hosts of HGTV’s “Boise Boys” house flipping series, will reveal design advice and renovation tips along with highlights of their reality TV show home transformations. (Thurs. and Fri.)
Adults and children are invited to put their toes in the sand and build a sand castle at The Beach, the show’s giant sandbox. Families can place a pin in an oversized Michigan map to show where their cabin is located and learn how to set up a cottage family succession plan at a seminar. Attendees can list their vacation property or look for availability on the “For Sale or Rent Board.”
Michigan artists featured in the Cottage Art Show will present metal art, wood furniture, jewelry, photography and cottage décor for sale. Decorative accessories, gourmet foods, handcrafted items and lake-themed merchandise will be available for purchase at the Lakefront Marketplace.
DreamCatcher BoatWorks of Grand Rapids will demonstrate handcrafted building techniques on a kayak and display a custom-built fishing kayak and classic-styled longboards, skateboards and penny boards. Michigan Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society, dedicated to the preservation and enjoyment of historic boats, will have restored boats on exhibit.
The Water & Woods Photo Contest Display allows showgoers to choose the entry that best captures cottage and lakefront living.
Exhibits with displays, information and educational materials include lakefront cottage and homebuilders, new construction log, timber frame and cedar homes, realtors, vacation property for sale or rent, rustic and fine furnishings and accessories, shoreline and cottage landscaping, lakeshore maintenance, docks, decking systems, boatlifts, seawalls, outdoor recreational equipment, stand-up paddleboards, financing and other products and services.
Experts throughout the show will share tips, advice and knowledge on purchasing, renting, planning and maintaining spring, summer and year-round vacation and lakefront homes.
Landscaping ideas and tips for cabin, cottage and lakefront landscapes are incorporated into displays that include outdoor living spaces, fireplaces, cooking options, patios, decks and garden products. Entry level to luxury pontoon boats, fishing boats, family sport boats, jet skis, kayaks, wakeboards and runabouts will all be on display.
