Get an exclusive sneak peek at the Festival before it opens to the public on VIP night.  With just 500 tickets available, VIP Preview Tickets include specialties from small plate restaurants; wine, beer, and distilled beverage tasting sessions, Meijer Food Stage and Meet the Maker presentations, tasting tickets to sample select new releases, special vintage wines, and exclusive beverages served only Thursday, and a VIP Festival sampling glass.

Jeremiah Zimmerman | President of the Beer City Brewers Guild

Jeremiah Zimmerman will be featured at the 16th International Wine, Beer, and Food Festival’s VIP Tasting Event. As President of the “Beer City Brewers Guild” and a devoted member of the Government Action Committee for the “Michigan Brewers Guild, Jeremiah has been quietly working behind the scenes to promote and celebrate the vibrant brewing culture of Grand Rapids.

Jeremiah will be leading a curated tour of special beers such as Pure Michigan Winter Pilsner by Shorts, Perrin Reserve, Founders The Cranfather, Speciation Macaronage, and Adesanya Real Freaks.  Find out why these beers are so special at the Beer City Tasting Session only available at Thursday’s VIP Preview Night.

John “Gonzo” Gonzalez & Amy Sherman | Behind the Mitten

John “Gonzo” Gonzalez and Amy Sherman currently co-hosts “Behind the Mitten”, a travel radio show and podcast on more than 13 stations across Michigan.

They will be offering a guided tour through Beer City Station at 7 pm, featuring brews and ciders that will only be served on Thursday, including special tastings from City Built Brewing, Guardian Brewing, Burzurk Brewing and Mitten Brewing.

Jonathan Pullis | Master Sommelier, Wine Educator

Board of Master Sommeliers at Wine Chips, Wine Director at Madame Ushi in Aspen, CEO of Chef’s Club—a collaboration with Food & Wine magazine.

Jonathan will be co-presenting the “Must Haves! Red Wines from Around the World” Tasting Session on Thursday at 7 pm in The Vineyard.

Lazar Favors | Owner, Black Spirits Legacy

Serial Entrepreneur and Chief Executive Officer of Black Spirits Legacy / Michigan Black Spirits.

Lazar will be presenting two spirit focused Tasting Sessions titled “Exploring Michigan Black Spirits”. These spirits will only be available for sampling at the Tasting Session in The Vineyard at 7 pm and 8 pm.

Meghan Sedivy | Health and Wellness Expert

Meghan Sedivy RD, LDN is a Media Spokesperson, Corporate Registered Dietitian and Health and Wellness Strategy Manager for Fresh Thyme Market. In this role, she supports health and wellness programming, customizes educational experiences both on and off the camera and partners with key vendors and brands within the industry to help meet customers on their health and wellness journey.

Meghan will be presenting on the Meet the Maker stage.

Ray Isle | Author, Editor for Food & Wine

Longtime executive wine editor for Food & Wine, as well as the wine and spirits editor for Travel + Leisure. Author of the newly released (11/14/23) The World in a Wine Glass.

Ray’s new book, “The World in a Wine Glass”, will be available for purchase and autographing at the VIP Preview. Ray will also be co-presenting “Must Haves! Red Wines from Around the World” Tasting Sessions on Thursday at 7 pm and 8 pm in The Vineyard.

Vincent Morrow | Chairperson of the Diversity Committee on the Court of Master Sommeliers

Master Sommelier, Chairperson of the Diversity Committee of the Court of Master Sommeliers and Board of Master Sommeliers at Wine Chips. In 2022, he was named the Michelin Guide California’s Sommelier of the Year, VinePair’s Next Wave Sommelier of the Year, and the Iconoclast Dinner Experience Wine Honoree.

Vincent will be co-presenting the “Must Haves! Red Wines from Around the World” Tasting Session with a focus on African American wine makers on Thursday at 8 pm in The Vineyard.

First Course – Shrimp Dijon

Jumbo shrimp coated with white wine and Dijon, dusted with seasoned flour and sautéed.  Served with white wine butter.

Paired with EOS Sauvignon Blanc.

 

Second Course – Butternut Squash Lasagna

Layers of butternut squash, house made pasta, and assorted cheeses.

Paired with Hayes Ranch Chardonnay.

 

Third Course – Stuffed Pork Tenderloin

Pork loin stuffed with prosciutto, fennel, rosemary, and mushrooms roasted and served with a savory Jus.

Paired with Domaine De La Bastide Cotes du Rhone.

 

Fourth Course – Carrot Cake with Pineapple flower

Traditional carrot cake with pineapple, coconut, and carrots with a cream cheese frosting.  *Nut free

Paired with Founders Centennial IPA.

First Course – West Coast Oysters Two Ways

Raw oyster on the half shell with frozen champagne mignonette, southern fried oyster with remoulade.

Paired with Mawby Sex Sparkling Rosé.

 

Second Course – Roasted Squash Bisque

Butternut squash with nutmeg crème fraiche and candied pecans.

Paired with the Urban Squirrel – Kyodie ravin’ apple whiskey, rittenhouse rye, long road nocino, walnut bitters, maple syrup, and dried apple chip.

 

Third Course – Smoked Carpaccio

Smoked tenderloin with shaved onion, arugula, manchego, and caper aioli.

Paired with Hess Shirtail Ranches Chardonnay.

 

Fourth Course – Lamb and Mushroom Risotto

Braised lamb shank, king trumpet, beech & king blue oyster mushrooms with point reyes blue cheese, toasted walnuts, and lamb bordelaise.

Paired with Bodega Norton Select Malbec.

 

Fifth Course – Pumpkin Spice Profiteroles

Pumpkin mousse, bourbon bacon caramel, cinnamon Chantilly cream, and spiced almonds.

Paired with Pumpkin Spice Dude – Eastern Kille utility vodka, Kavanagh Pumpkin Spice Irish Cream, kahlua, nutmeg, and shaved chocolate.
