2019 Lansing Home and Garden Show Helps Everyone Spring into Action
Spring is the season of fresh starts, fresh air, and fresh new ideas! Just in time to help with everyone’s spring projects is the Lansing Home & Garden Show, March 14-17 at the MSU Pavilion!
With nearly 300 exhibitors and a dozen feature gardens; Mid-Michigan’s largest home and garden show is the must attend event for anyone with home improvement needs, garden plans or just a love for a fresh breath of Spring. “These are the very best businesses in the area” says Sr. Show Manager Carolyn Alt, “offering homeowners the products they’ll need to take care of any project they have, from building a new home or just mending a fence, they are experts at what they do and love to help answer everyone’s questions.”
Check out some the highlights surrounding the 300 exhibitors that make the Lansing Home & Garden Show one of the best.
Spectacular Indoor Gardens filled with everything from waterfalls and rock gardens to patios and park benches and overflowing with blooming plants and flowers! For anyone that loves to walk through a beautiful garden or just enjoys strolling the annuals section at their local greenhouse this show provides inspiration for garden and landscaping projects of any size, shape or color!
Official Host of the Show is the Home Builders Association of Greater Lansing. “Our partnership with the HBA of Greater Lansing provides an excellent resource for the folks attending the show.” says Alt, “From ensuring it’s members are licensed with the State of MI to providing checklists to help select the right contractor for projects large or small, a first stop at the HBA booth will help take the ‘daunting’ out of everyone’s remodeling projects. It’s nice to have help!”
The Home Stage is the place to go for new ways to make a home more beautiful, functional, and comfortable! Great design inspiration is non-stop, with the shows favorite local designer and author Leslie Hart-Davidson presenting seminars on new construction and remodeling selections; trends; and tips for successful redesign projects.
Kate Wert from Moxie Life Organizing takes a personal approach to simplifying your life. Also on the Home Stage, Kate will help us address the emotional attachments we have to our STUFF and one junk drawer at a time create spaces that optimize efficiency and function while integrating aesthetics and personal style.
Melinda Myers, Gardening Expert and contributing editor at Birds & Blooms magazine headlines the Garden Stage Friday & Saturday sharing her wisdom on low maintenance perennial gardens that pack a punch, and creating unique container gardens. Gardening season is right around the corner!
The “Plant Michigan Green” Garden Stage features dozens of expert seminars by members of the Michigan Nursery and Landscape Association, Wild Ones Red Cedar Chapter, and the MSU Extension Master Gardeners. Topics cover everything from wildflowers, insects, backyard fruit and veggie growing, container gardening and more!
The Cooking Stage features Crostini, Bruschetta, and Modern Fancy Toasts where Chef Angus Campbell teaches us to elevate the most humble staple to new culinary heights. Maybe man does not live by bread alone — but it sure adds joy to life! Chef Campbell will demonstrate how to make delicious toppings and spreads from fresh, healthy ingredients and perfectly combine them with breads from a variety of grains and seeds. Bon appetit!
Saturday is the Lansing State Journal Family Day! Saturday morning is when kids become a real part of the action with fun activities that keep them engaged and give parents some welcome time to connect with the exhibitors they need, no matter how long the to-do list might be! Children 14 and under get in free until noon on Saturday with lots of special activities scheduled; from gardening projects to a live Bats show with the Leslie Science & Nature Center, Home Depot workshops, oatmeal cookie sand art, and more.
The Plant Sale, Sunday from 3pm to 5pm is the best way to cap off the weekend and creates the opportunity for show patrons to take beautiful plants from the show home with them. Starting at 3pm on Sunday the landscapers will be selling all the different plants from their gardens. You can’t plant them yet but it’s never too early to add some color to any room in the house.
For over 20 years flower lovers have been visiting the Largest Flower Show in the state of Michigan, presented by the Federated Garden Clubs of Michigan, District II B. This year’s flower show theme is, “Gourmet Gardening” featuring hundreds of horticulture entries, dozens of stunning floral design arrangements and new this year a photography contest.
